If your plan is to study some vocational or study program, as well as English language course that lasts more than three months in New Zealand, you will need a student visa.
Student visa allows you to study in New Zealand but also to work part-time jobs (up to 20 hours a week) during your semesters while on breaks you are allowed to work full-time. If you are studying Master by Research or PhD studies you have the opportunity to work full-time. Student visa allows you to bring your family with you (spouse, de facto partner and your children). The same working conditions that apply for a student also apply for the partner.
Student visa is issued on the period of your studies, up to four years.
Application for a student visa is submitted online through official website of New Zealand’s Home Affairs.
Visa fee for student visa application is 295NZD and the average processing time is around 49 days.
