Student visa for Germany

Student visa for Germany is not required for student coming from member states of the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland, however students coming from third countries who wish to study longer than 3 months must obtain student visa. In addition, students from third countries must apply for residence permit upon arrival to Germany.

Conditions for student visa

• Student must be enrolled in accredited education institution in Germany
• To have the level of education needed for the enrolled program
• Student must have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction
• To be able to cover study and living costs in Germany. Students who show funds themselves need to open blocked bank account in Germany and deposit their funds which can later use every month in limited amount
• To prove that their only motive in Germany are studies and temporary stay
• To have adequate health insurance
