Student visa for Switzerland

Student visa is not necessary for students coming from member states of the European Union and European Economic Area. Students coming from third countries who wish to study in Switzerland longer than 3 months must have national visa. All international students who plan to study longer than 3 months must apply for residence permit upon arrival in Switzerland.

Conditions for student visa

• The student to be enrolled in education institution and to pay their tuition fee
• To have level of education needed for enrollment
• To have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction of the enrolled studies
• To prove that they are financially capable to cover costs of studying and staying in Switzerland
• To prove that their only motive in Switzerland are studies and temporary stay
• Student must organize accommodation for the period of studies
• To have adequate health insurance
